Celebration time for the Army, as BTS gets three awards at the American Music Award
The South Korean boy band, BTS won three awards at the American Music Award 2021, and the Artist of the year award on Sunday night as it turned out to be a huge night for them. The band ended the show performing their Award-winning hit “Butter” and won every award for which they were nominated, favorite pop duo or group (for the third time in a row), a favorite pop song (“Butter”), and the coveted artist of the year award (for the first time).
However, the 27-year-old RM, as he accepted the award for the best artist, nervously said, “This whole thing is a miracle. Seriously, we will never take this for granted. Four years ago, we had given our first-time-ever live performance at this AMAs stage for ‘DNA.’
“We were so excited and nervous at the time, It’s been a long and amazing ride since then, but nobody could have ever bet on the odds of us standing here receiving this award, except for the ARMY. Seven boys from Korea, united by a love for music, met the love and support from all the ARMY all over the world.” added RM.
The American Music Awards was broadcast in India on Monday morning and in the US on Sunday night from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The announcement for the three awards was made on their official Twitter handle claiming, “We won Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop Song, and Favorite Pop Duo or Group at the @AMAs tonight! We want to thank everyone who supported our music and especially #BTSARMY! We love you [Purple heart] Don’t miss the rest of the show and our incredible performance! #AMAs #BTSxAMAs #BTS_Butter.”
